Our study regions comprise three distinct forest–agriculture landscapes in the humid tropics. These multifunctional landscapes in northern Laos, eastern Madagascar, and southern Myanmar are resource rich but poverty prone, and at the centre stage of fierce competition over land among multiple stakeholders.
